Job Description:

The Automation Technician will perform the day-to-day operations to successfully complete specialized panel builds and automation projects. They will be responsible for the completion of UL requirements on a daily basis while establishing a safe and efficient work environment. They will build VFD, PLC, and Control Panels per UL, NEC, and Company standards; installing, repairing, and upgrading VFD, PLC, Control Panels; assisting other skilled trades; and ensuring that panels are completed within customer requested time frame

Essential Functions include but are not limited to:

  • Build and wire control panels according to CAD drawings and bill of materials.
  • Maintain a clean and organized shop area.
  • Assemble control panels and enclosures, mounting components on panels, wire cutting, stripping, soldering, crimping, and testing of finished panels.
  • Prepare finished control panels for shipment.
  • Assist with on-site installations.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair PLCs and corresponding instruments.
  • Plan and direct layout of equipment, workflow, and assembly methods.
  • Ensure necessary stock levels are maintained to meet project needs.
  • Follow design prints throughout production.
  • Promote enthusiasm and brand loyalty during daily huddles and team meetings.
  • Ensure quality control of all panel builds and designated projects from preparation, fabrication, and installment.
  • Other job duties as assigned.

Competencies: 

  • Experience with Rockwell Automation software. This includes FactoryTalk View Studio, RS Logix 5000, Connected Components Workbench.
  • Maintain technical knowledge by attending ongoing education workshop(s) and training(s).
  • Ability to comprehend structural, architectural, and mechanical drawings and documents as it pertains to the electrical scope and position.
  • Communicate effectively with team, vendors, and clients.
  • Capability to oversee multiple projects at a time.
  • Proficiency with computers and modern technology.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety procedures.
  • Uphold company core values on and off worksites.

Physical Demands:

  • Lift over 50 lbs.
  • Regularly required to work around operating equipment, work in confined spaces, stand for long periods of time, walk, reach, stoop, crawl, twist, bend, and climb ladders.
